Learning Objectives

The course aims at introducing the student to the methodologies of Digital Archaeology, both as digitisation of already existing data acquired through traditional methodologies, and as innovative tools.

Course Structure

The course includes a module (2 ECTS) of theory about informatics applied to archaeology and digital archaeology, its potential and limits, e 4 modules of training activity on digitisation, acquisition, analysis, management and communication of data.

Detailed Course Content

1 – Digital Archaeology as digitisation and use of new technologies; catalogation standards; 2 – digitisation of data (training about use of Autocad, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Excel); 3 – Acquisition and communication of data: from excavation to the web (training in the use of Metashape); 4 – Quantitative and statistical analysis (training); 5 – Data Management: the database (training in the use of MySQL e Access).
