Learning Objectives

The course aims at providing advanced knowledge on the ecological role and harmfulness of the key insect pests. This with the principal goal of identifying the main sustanable integrated management strategies specific for each key insect pest of the Mediterranean environment.



Detailed Course Content

Arthropod-plant interaction and crop damage. Theoretical and practical bases of the integrated control programmes of insect pests of the main Mediterranean crops, such as: citrus, grape, olive, stone and pome fruits, open field and protected vegetables, cereals and legumes. Focus on invasive insect pests and on bibliographic research of scientific articles written in English. Morphological identification of the key pest species.

Some specific English-written material (books, chapters and sceintific manuscripts) will be provided by the teacher during the classes.
