Obiettivi formativi

Il corso ha l'obiettivo di fornire agli studenti le conoscenze necessarie per investigare in dettaglio i processi responsabili della genesi e diversificazione delle rocce ignee e metamorfiche nei differenti ambienti geodinamici ed il loro ruolo nell'evoluzione della crosta continentale.


Modalità di svolgimento dell'insegnamento

Il corso consiste di lezioni frontali riguardanti selezionati argomenti e metodi d'indagine petrologici, in cui gli aspetti teorici sono accompagnati da casi studio ed esempi di applicazioni in contesti di particolare rilievo nell'ambito dell'evoluzione crostale. E' prevista l'organizzazione di esercitazioni al microscopio e al computer e di un'escursione giornalieria sul basamento dei Monti Peloritani.

Qualora l'insegnamento venisse impartito in modalità mista o a distanza potranno essere introdotte le necessarie variazioni rispetto a quanto dichiarato in precedenza, al fine di rispettare il programma previsto e riportato nel syllabus.

Conoscenze di base di Mineralogia, Petrografia e Geochimica



Frequenza lezioni

La frequenza è obbligatoria ai sensi del regolamento didattico del Corso di Studio.

PETROLOGIA IGNEA. Scopi e metodi in Petrologia Ignea. Generazione e differenziazione dei magmi. Petrologia microstrutturale. Equilibri di fase in rocce ignee. Termobarometria ignea. Modellizzazione geochimica di processi magmatici. Intrusioni mafiche stratificate. Grandi province magmatiche. Batoliti e plutoni granitici. Il magmatismo felsico e la connessione plutono-vulcanica. Relazioni tra tettonica e magmatismo granitoide. PETROLOGIA METAMORFICA. Il metamorfismo e gli scopi della Petrologia Metamorfica. Metamorfismo e geodinamica. Paragenesi e reazioni metamorfiche. Microstrutture ed evoluzione P-T-d di rocce metamorfiche. Tecniche termobarometriche in petrologia metamorfica. Metamorfismo di alta temperatura e fusione crostale. Petrologia delle rocce granitoidi da una prospettiva crostale. Fluidi metamorfici e metasomatismo. Il fattore tempo nella deformazione ed evoluzione della crosta continentale. Evoluzione geologico-geodinamica dell'Orogene Calabro-Peloritano dal tardo Precambriano al tardo Paleozoico.
