Learning Objectives

Acquire an in-depth knowledge of some architectural contexts, particularly of medieval and modern periods within the framework for the architectural history in Europe; strengthen the critical tools and methods for the study of architectural production. Two insights will concern the examination of the cathedrals of the Norman county in Sicily, founded and built during the XIth century, to trace their systems, characteristics and models. The second is a short excursus about the architect Raffaello Sanzio, on the 500th anniversary of his death, to understand the salient features of his design, the spatial choices and the architectural language.
