Learning Objectives

• MEDICINA DI FAMIGLIA
  

  The World Health Organization and the European Union recommended the teaching of Family Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine, and the University of Catania was among the first to start an Official Course. It acknowledged the role of family doctors, who are involved in the prevention and holistic and comprehensive approach to the problems of public health. The Family Medicine is fundamental for the rationalization of experimentation, and for an optimal use of resources (Clinical Governance) but also for research and teaching, drug trials, educational campaigns aimed at countering lifestyles and inadequate addictions themselves, taking charge of social, behavioral and psychiatric disorders. The widespread use and advanced information technology and telematics in medical practices and the use of various instrumental methods, especially in the self-help diagnostic have certainly encouraged a growth path together with the fundamental issues concerning communication and Counseling. In fact only appropriate communication, especially verbal and non-verbal, can establish a relationship of mutual trust and a therapeutic alliance between doctor and patient. It will highlight the importance of forms of association, which made it possible to break the working and human isolation of the doctors, allowing you to integrate various skills, from some of diagnostic and therapeutic tools, as well as lay the foundation for greater continuity of care in the territory, creating forms of assistance planned, both at home and ambulatory, aimed at patients with disabilities, chronic diseases, but also psycho-social problems .

  -Definition of “WONCA”

  - The GPs in primary care;

  - Clinical methodology of General Medicine: bio-psycho-social approach and approach to problems (PROBLEM SOLVING)

  - Setting of the MMG,

  - The health needs

  - The global, trusted and continuous approach to the person and his family

  - The centrality of the doctor-patient-family and social context

  - Assistance to patients and their families and home care

  - Clinical Governance

  -Diabetes, hepatitis, arthritis, allergies, heart disease and hypertension, bronchitis, within the study of General Practitioner

  - GP’s handbag.
