At the end of the course, the students must know the appropriate psychological approach to the pediatric patients, the acknowledgment of embryology and growth of the stomatognathic apparatus considering their potential alterations involving the occurrence of malformations of the jaws, dental anomalies, and specific dento-skeletal malocclusion patterns; they will also have to know how to diagnose and treat dental caries and its complications, bad habits, common oral mucositis, and temporomandibular joint disorders. Students will have to acquire the knowledge necessary to promptly identify the clinical signs of malocclusion in developmental age and to discern the timing and methods to increase the effectiveness of orthodontic and facial orthopedic therapies.
