After successful completion of this course, students will be able to define nutritional requirements in the various stages of life cycle, such as infancy, childhood and adolescence, adulthood, oldness, and pregnancy/lactating women; provide health recommendations; and recognize early and late life consequences of inadequate nutrient intake.
The course aims to deepen the knowledge on the pathophysiological mechanisms of the main endocrine-metabolic diseases correlated to pregnancy and in some clinical conditions of adulthood and the role of diet in their prevention and treatment.
Aim of the course is to provide knowledges on aspects of physiology of the child and on main physiopathological conditions and pediatric diseases which need nutritional intervention, on role of nutrion in their prevention and/or treatment
The lessons will mostly be lectures, assisted by the use of videos and slides. These are interactive lessons in which the student can discuss with the teacher for any clarification. To ensure better learning, after each lesson students will be given the slides of the lesson they have taken and the following one.

- Calcium metabolism and osteoporosis
- Pathophysiology of ovarian diseases and Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
Nutritional requirements in the newborn, toddlers, children and adolescents; breast feeding; formula feeding; weaning; dysvitaminosis; rickets; sideropenic anemia; celiac disease; pku; cistic fibrosis; mention on main metabolic diseases; obesity; diabetes
