Learning Objectives

Musculo-skeletal system diseases
The aim is to provide the knowledge of the main musculoskeletal diseases of orthopedic and traumatology. The course provides knowledge regarding common orthopedic and traumatological diseases, giving notions about diagnosis and conservative and surgical treatment.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
The aims of this course is to illustrate the diseases (degenerative, autoimmune and traumatic) of the musculoskeletal and nervous system. The principal goal is to illustrate the principles of functional rehabilitation and the enhancement of residual abilities.
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Knowledge of basic techniques in Plastic Surgery, treatment of the main tumors, malformation and traumatic diseases and related reconstructive procedures.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Weekly frontal lessons with slides and videos. Attendance is mandatory.

Detailed Course Content

Musculo-skeletal system diseases
The course is based on the main orthopedic and traumatologic disorders, highlighting: epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, imaging investigations, differential diagnosis, prognosis, complications, conservative and surgical treatment.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Degenerative and traumatic diseases of the spine and rehabilitation; disorders of the CNS and rehabilitation; pathologies of the SNP and rehabilitation; instrumental therapy and EBM; rheumatic disease and rehabilitation treatment; traumatic and degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system and rehabilitation treatment; functional assessment scales; utilities of the neurophysiological technique in rehabilitation; self-rehabilitation of spastic paresis.
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Basic Techniques in Plastic Surgery; treatment and diagnosis of skin neoplastic lesions; treatment of traumatic hand injury; malformative syndromes of the cephalic, genital, breast and limb district; breast reconstruction; canalicular pathologies of the upper limb; treatment and physiopathology of the burned patient; knowledge and treatment of chronic skin lesions of the lower limbs and pressure lesions; microsurgery.
