To prepare the student to the concepts of specific determinants of health and illness, to the evaluation and management of different types of risk and to provide the basis for epidemiology and
prevention.
Aims of the course are to provide students with knowledge on the impact of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) at national, European and global level, on the concepts and tools for the HAI epidemiological surveillance according to the standards of European and/or national projects; to prepare the students for evaluating results of surveillance studies and of the main strategies for the prevention and control of HCAIs.
The aims are:
Extended knowledge of the most important Infectious Diseases viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoan on a aetiopathogenic basis
Organization of a diagnostic pathway on a clinical, instrumental, laboratory basis
Knowledge of therapeutic aspects of Infectious diseases drugs with main reference to antibiotics management
The course includes lectures in which continuous interaction with the students is encouraged, and exercises in the classroom and in the laboratory to develop the ability to apply the knowledge
acquired during the course.
