Detailed Course Content

Theoretical and practical approach to the Modern Greek Language and to its gradual evolution in the current Standard Modern Greek. Through a selection of poems and novels, the course aims to delineate the features of Modern Greek Literature. The course is divided into two modules, the first based on language, and the second on literature production:

1. Introduction to phonetics, morphology, irregular verbs and elements of syntax of Modern Greek language

2. Reading, translation and analysis of selected poems and short stories of famous Greek writers of the 19th and 20th centuries.
