Learning Objectives

The course aims to favour student knowledge on general psychology, history of psychology and psychology of personality, with attention to the specific language of the psychology.



Detailed Course Content

Definition of psychology, research in psychology, mental processes, brain and behaviour, sensation and perception, learning, memory, thinking and mental imagery communication and language, emotion, motivation, definition of personality, main theories on personality (Freud and psychoanalysis, Rogers, Maslow, psychometric theories, theories of personal constructs, attribution theories, situation theories, cognitive styles, theory of planned behavior (Monsell, Ajzen, ecc.). History of psychology: the origin of psychology, Wundt and structuralism, Funzionalism, Gestalt, Behaviourism, Reflessology, Piaget, Vigostky, Cognitivism and Contemporary Psychology.
