The course aims to provide a good educational background on some fundamental concepts in Computer Science and Information Technology.

• The formalization of the concept of information;
• Algorithms as foundation of Computer Science. Some basic and well known algorithms.
• Binary representation and elements of binary logic. Digital representaion of information.

• Architecture and features of modern processing systems and operating systems
• Examples of Application Software
• Topology and structure of modern computer networks; evolution of the Internet, the World Wide Web and related services
