To provide the master's degree in Medicine and Surgery with the basic notions of
epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and therapy of dental caries, pulpopathies,
of apical paradentites, abscesses and perimascellar and perimandibular phlegmons. The
graduate must acquire the ability to diagnose the most common algic diseases of
odontogenic origin and learn the basics of the medical treatment of the same,
with the dosage of the most common drugs. Must know the
notions useful to perform a dental reimplantation and to direct the patient to the
subsequent dental therapy. It must acquire the general notions that lead to
diagnosis of a malocclusion, prescribing the most appropriate radiological examinations
Aim of the Course is to provide all the essential informations the students need about this branch of Medicine, whatever the future specialization. The Course is set up to provide data for effectively diagnose and manage a comprehensive range of ophthalmic disorders, in some cases useful in the diagnosis of systemic diseases. A concise format makes it easy to quickly learn and understand the "must-know" aspects of each condition from a clinical and therapeutical point of view, especially focusing on the most important diseases, owing to their epidemiology and clinics.
1) Characteristics and function of the stomatognathic apparatus. 2) Elements of anatomy of dental elements: structure and function. 3) Pathology of the dentition: neodentary syndrome and disodontiasis of the third molars. 4) Abnormalities of the time of dental eruption. 5) Anomalies of the teeth: of shape, volume, number, structure, position and seat. 6) Acquired lesions of hard tooth tissues: abrasions, erosions, dislocations and fractures. 7) Dental caries: epidemiology - etiopathogenesis - macro and microscopic pictures of the caries of enamel and dentin. Carious cavities: prevention, materials of obturation, therapeutic options. 8) Pulpopathies: classification, etiopathogenesis, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy. 9) Periodontal disease: etiopathogenesis, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy. 10) Periodontopathy: etiopathogenesis, anatomic pathology, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy. 11) Odontogenic osteitis of the jaws; abscesses and perioral phlegmon. 12) Stomatomucosites. 13) Dental malocclusions and Angle classification. 14) Temporo-mandibular joint disorders. 15) Soft tissue tumors of the oral cavity. 16) Cystic neoformations of the maxillary bones and odontogenic tumors. 17) Osteonecrosis of the bisphosphonate jaws
