The aim of the course is to provide architecture students with basic knowledge of this discipline and the criteria for understanding and interpreting European architecture during the period between the 15th and 18th centuries. Therefore, students must be able to acquire the ability to find their way around and evaluate the phenomena and events studied in light of a necessary comparison between the various regional situations to be observed and interpreted.
Knowledge and comprehension skills
Students will acquire basic knowledge of this discipline and the critical instruments needed to understand the phenomena looked at, with reference to Europe and the Mediterranean’s main architectural experiences. Students will also develop the skills needed for critical interpretation of the modern-day city and architecture, and its design and construction processes.
Independent thinking
The course of study will allow students to identify key problems, processes and transitions of western history and to develop critical attention as regards study of the discipline and the works used to interpret the phenomena and events looked at.
Communication skills
Students will acquire a technical lexis linked to the specific discipline and will improve their presentation skills and ability to use an appropriate interpretation key.
