Learning Objectives

Starting from the concept of "idea" by Plato, who lived exclusively in Siracusa three times during a lapse of time of thirty years and through the didactic method of the inclusive dialogue, the course takes care about the different approaches of the psychology, psychoanalysis and particularly analytical and archetypal psychology in order architectural forms.



Detailed Course Content

The course takes care about the fundamentals of psychology, psychoanalysis, analytical and archetypal psychology in relation with architecture and its costitutive forms, materials, colors and styles; the course focus on Jungian ideas of "Individuation process", "counsciousness and its functions, personal and collective unconscious", "ego and Self", "shadow", "person", "psychological types", "archetype" as basic level to face the concepts of "Transformation and Regeneration", "Professional Individuation", "Numbers in Architecture"; special emphasis is reserved for the new concept of "Curative Architecture", developped within the special seminar "ArTchetipi - Immaginal laboratory on archetypes, images and symbols in architecture".
