Learning Objectives

The course aims to introduce students to the interpretations of Italian history in the second half of the twentieth century. The course has the structure of seminars with some moments of reflection on the historiography with the critical reading of archival, documentary, literary, cinematographic and photographic sources.



Detailed Course Content

Italy in war. Resistence and liberation. The postwar order. The agrarian reform. Cristian Democracy party, State, society. Left wing and the working class movement in the Fifties. Economic miracle, escape from the rural areas, social transformations. The left of centre wing. The collective action age Crisis, agreement, «The lead years». Italy’s Eightees.
