Learning Objectives

At the end of the course students will be able to think critically about the main themes and models of contemporary pedagogy. Students will study the forms and pursuit of early-childhood pedagogy from a scientific perspective in order to understand the multiplicity and the specificity of educational interactions during early childhood, They will also explore the influence of educational professionalism on childcare and in the support of parenthood.



Detailed Course Content

The aim of the course on early-childhood pedagogy is to promote critical thinking on how interactions among places, people, contexts, culture, knowledge, and pedagogy influence early childhood development. Epistemological, methodological and social issues will be discussed, with a specific focus on the main features of educational professionalism and project-oriented education in childcare. The specificity of pedagogical thinking regarding the relations between logic and ethic and the cognitive sphere and social domain will be presented. Supplemental activities will be devoted to workshops on the natural rights of children.
