FARMACOLOGIA

In the first part of the present course, students will acquire information about basic principles in Pharmacology, from drug development processes to pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, drugs mechanisms, signal transduction pathways, factors affecting response to drugs, adverse drug reactions. In the second part, students will be introduced to an overview of selected drug classes and their clinical applications.

General Pharmacology

• Pharmacokinetics: absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion;
• Dose-response relationship;
• Pharmacodynamics: biological targets, classification of receptors and theories;
• Signal transduction pathways;

• Fetal toxicity and teratogenesis.

Drug classes

• Drugs affecting autonomic nervous system;
• Drug affecting central nervous system;
• Drugs affecting cardiovascular and renal system;
• Drugs used for diabetes mellitus;
• Anti-inflammatory drugs;
• Antihistamines;
• General and Local Anesthetics;
• Drugs affecting the digestive system;
• General basis of antimicrobial and anticancer chemotherapy.
