Learning Objectives

This course is an introduction to contemporary French civilization, culture and literature. We will examine the most meaningful themes, tendencies, genres and authors with respect to the cultural changes in present day France, with a particular focus on visual arts. Thanks to this course, we are able to apply knowledge and understanding, make judgement, communicate and learn skills.



Detailed Course Content

Contemporary French literature and culture

The first part of the course will consider and discuss French literature today, by examining the role of the writer and his language in the social panorama, his/her place in the globalized world and his/her ways of expression through the different genres, languages and arts.

To this end, the course is divided into three modules that treat the contemporary biography, the suburb writer and his peripherals languages between linguistics variations and hybrid identity.

  1. L’autobiographie et l’autofiction narrative
  2. Les Chroniques de l’asphalte de Samuel Benchetrit. L’autobiographie en banlieue
  3. Variations et identités linguistiques dans la culture française contemporaine.
