Il corso mira a sviluppare e consolidare le abilità linguistiche dei discenti al livello intermedio B1 del CEFR, con particolare attenzione rivolta allo studio della grammatica e all’acquisizione del vocabolario di riferimento specifico.

Conoscenza e Capacità di Comprensione
Alla fine del corso, gli studenti raggiungeranno una competenza linguistica paragonabile al livello B1. Lo studio della lingua e della sintassi inglese insieme all'analisi di testi di argomento specifico potenzieranno le capacità dello studente di comprendere strutture linguistiche e contenuti in lingua.
Capacità di Applicare Conoscenza e Capacità di Comprensione
Gli studenti acquisiranno le competenze necessarie all'uso corretto della lingua scritta e parlata; miglioreranno le abilità di lettura e di ascolto; produrranno una riflessione sugli aspetti fonetici della lingua; saranno in grado di tradurre un brano di argomento scientifico, utilizzando adeguatamente la microlingua e il registro appropriato.
Autonomia di Giudizio
Gli studenti acquisiranno le competenze e le conoscenze per approfondire testi specifici e valutare contenuti in lingua. Impareranno ad utilizzare i principali strumenti disponibili per l'apprendimento linguistico (dizionari, grammatiche, libri di testo, gloassari, ecc.), ed a discernere tra questi in modo critico in ciascuna situazione specifica.
Abilità Comunicative
Le abilità comunicative dello studente saranno consolidate attraverso esercitazioni individuali e il dialogo in lingua. Le situazioni comunicative descritte dal CEFR in riferimento al livello B1 riguardano l'abilità di produrre brevi testi intelligibili su argomenti familiari o di interesse personale. Il parlante B1, inoltre, sa descrivere esperienze personali e fornire motivazioni e spiegazioni su opinioni e progetti.
Capacità di Apprendere
Il corso mira a sviluppare le capacità di apprendimento autonomo dello studente, a promuovere la consapevolezza dei diversi tipi di strategie di apprendimento sulla base dei bisogni individuali e ad accrescere l'interesse e le capacità di autoapprendimento futuro.

Test scritto sugli argomenti di grammatica e traduzione dall’italiano all’inglese di frasi inerenti il vocabolario specifico analizzato durante le ore di corso. L'esame sarà valutato in trentesimi. La parte relativa al grammar focus sarà valutata fino a 20 punti; la sezione di traduzione e analisi di un testo specifico sarà valutata fino a 10 punti.
Non sono previste prove in itinere.
Durante l'ultima lezione del corso, si svolgerà un fake simulation exam, nei tempi stabiliti per la prova ufficiale. La correzione di gruppo di una prova precedentemente assegnata sarà seguita da una revisione degli argomenti trattati, basata sulle richieste di chiarimenti che arrivano dagli studenti.
Esempi di frase da tradurre in inglese:
- Un gene corrisponde ad una sequenza di DNA che contiene informazione genetica e può influenzare il fenotipo di un organismo.
- Un organismo geneticamente modificato è un organismo vivente che possiede un patrimonio genetico modificato tramite tecniche di ingegneria genetica.
