The course aims to provide students adequate knowledge and basic skills in the area of psychiatric science. At the end of the course students should: 1) be able to recognize and frame the main psychopathological symptoms; 2) be able to perform a psychiatric interview; 3) know the recent classification of mental illnesses; 4) know the main therapeutic interventions (psychopharmacological, psychotherapeutic, rehabilitative) in psychiatry; 5) have acquired a basic knowledge of psychiatric legislation and of organization of mental healthcare in Italy.
The course is aimed to introduce the student to understand the physiological trajectories of development in the child with typical development with respect to those observed in children with developmental disabilities.
The student will acquire competences in the diagnostic procedure of the most common neuropsychiatric disorders in infancy, childhood and adolescence. He will learn about diagnostic criteria, psychometric evaluation and therapy in different childhood neuropsychiatric diseases.
