The course will offer a broad framework of theories and methods that sociology has developed for the analysis of development processes of contemporary societies in a critical, but rich in interchange and contacts, with other disciplines and, in particular, with economics and political science. In particular, we will trace a detailed picture of the interpretations that have accompanied the development of Western capitalism and globalization processes, from the definition of these phenomena and on the main issues that these phenomena arise:
MISURE E MODELLI DI SVILUPPO
During the module will discuss the main issues related to the processes of development: measures of development, development patterns, the role of the state as an agent of innovation, social and environmental sustainability, the crisis of modernity and alternative development. At the end of the course, the student has a broad knowledge of theoretical and methodological tools used in the field of sociology for the study of development issues and their relation to specific approaches used by other disciplines, especially economics. He will be able to give a critical opinion on the interpretation proposals and projects regarding the central problem for contemporary society and international relations. He will be able to find sources (of theories and data) that will allow further investigation and will have the possibility of contributing to lectures about the various aspects of the development policies. The student will also be able to prepare and present (in the public) a short paper concerted with the professor in relation to the themes and issues addressed during the course.
