Learning Objectives

The course aims at introducing the most relevant issues of land use and spatial planning at different scale and contexts, following the more recent cultural evolution and national/regional legislations. The course introduces the different methods for landscape and urban planning, with a particular focus on the sustainable use of the natural resources and with reference to the national and regional planning legislation. The different existing plans in national and regional contexts will be presented.



Detailed Course Content

The course is structured in frontal lectures, exercises and supplementary seminars. Lectures frame the relation between theoretical and technical issues that characterise spatial planning. During the exercises (mandatory), students will be guided through a set of spatial planning analyses to be addresses by the use of Geographical Information Systems.
