Learning Objectives

General Objectives of teaching in terms of expected results of learning:

1) Knowledge and understanding: the course allows students to learn financial and banking legislation, in particular financial firms, investment companies and, more generally, stock exchange market.
Moreover, the course is designated to offer professional skills in order to apply knowledge and skills into the workplace.

2) Applying knowledge and understanding: teaching methods aim to develop students’ critical faculty. In fact, future degree students will be able to face real life issues into transversal and interdisciplinary contexts.

3) Making judgements: this course allows students to improve their thinking skills, the acquisition and interpretation of the necessary information and data needed, although insufficient or incomplete, for the management of complex issues, the construction and understanding of formal models, both descriptive and prescriptive.

4) Communication skills: the students will be able to discuss their thesis also with unskilled operators using technical terms and making appropriate links.

5) Learning skills: during lessons professor gives tips in order to improve students’ study approach and good level of understanding.

Detailed Course Content

I MODULE (3 CFU)

Title: Banks
Description of syllabus: Development of banking legislation. Financial Authorities and their supervisory functions. Financial and banking market: activities and entities. Banks: specialty items in the organization of the entities and activity. The ownership structure of banks. The access to the banking market. Banking Supervision. The rules of banking crises.

Title: Banking Transparency.

Description of syllabus: Firm’s financing needs and financial market: sources of law. Financial firms and financial contracts: rules.
