Learning Objectives

Knowledge and understanding

The course aims to provide students with knowledge related to the capital structure and the financing decisions focusing on advantages and disadvantages of each financial instruments. The students will be able to develop specific skills in order to conduct a critical analysis of the main tools of business valuation.

 

Applying knowledge and understanding

Based on the aquired knowledge in financing decisions and business valuation, students will be able to develop technical and professional skills. In particular, the frontal lectures, group works and business testimonials will enable students to deal in practical and professional issues related to the choice of the most appropriate financial instruments and to proceed successfully to business valuation.

 

Making judgements

The course allows students to develop autonomy of judgment. It will make students able to express considerations in relation to the links between the theoretical arguments dealt with and their application areas. Conducting work groups will allow students to become familiar with tecniques and tools, which lead students to interpret business data and apply the different techniques of business valuation based on the distinctive features of the company.

 

Communication skills: Based on the acquired knowledge, students can develop communication and social skills for business consulting. The acquisition of technical languag, used in the national and international contexts, will lead the student to make professional assessments.

 

Learning skills: The study of the discipline will enable the student to understand the logic and assumptions of the financial decisions and the business valuation. The student will be able to increasehis/her theoretical and practical knowledge about the techniques of business valuation, testing his/her acquired skills through the work groups.



Detailed Course Content

The course program contains 3 parts and deals with the study of the tools and methodologies of financial decisions, risk valuation, cost of equity and cost of debt, techniques of business valuation, capitalization and discounting techniques, and the relative valuation.

The course is delivered through lectures and exercices.
