CRIMINAL LAW AND CRIMINOLOGY WITH LAB.

The course covers the fundamentals of criminology discipline, placing them in a more general overview of the criminal law. It will be presented the relationship between the criminal justice system - in the normative, institutional, cultural and sociological sense - and the contributions of philosophers, psychologists and sociologists on the analysis of criminal and deviant behavior. The central part of the course will be dedicated to the critical reading of theoretical contributions that are attributed to the field of sociology of deviance, along with an analysis of psychological theories of deviance and crime. Finally it will be a space dedicated to the prison as a total institution, and it will be developed the theme of the failure of the classical causal pattern in the analysis of the complexity and the fundamental role that can be played in this area by functionalism.

The principles and foundations of the criminal law: the value and the different profiles of legality; the structure of the offense and the criminal liability; imputability and guilt; convictions and security measures; The history of criminology: dynamics and cultural practices; The definition and the profiles of criminal responsibility in the complexity of reality: the criminal law in the face of other social sciences; attribution, guilt, social dangerousness.
