The contents of this discipline are of vital importance both for the students who maior in a Romance language, as it represents an indispensable understanding of its historical-linguistic and historical-literal construction, and, more generally, for the study of the origins of the Italian literature and the history of the European Middle Age and its intersection with the Eastern one.
Concerning each of the three strands, linguistic, textual, interpretative, students must know the basic outlines and deepen the linguistic approach, as well the textual critic and the critic interpretative approaches.
