Learning Objectives

Internal Medicine
The main objectives of the course are as follows:

-To provide essential knowledge on the physiopathology of the acute and chronic diseases (e.g. chronic intestinal disease, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, pancreatitis) and to identify their relationship and inter-dependency.

-To apply these skills to the full spectrum of diseases in human.

-To develop the transferable skills on acute and chronic diseases (including physiopathology, oral communication with patients, team work, decision making during diseases) between students and patients.
Neurology
Lessons are organized in three different parts: the first will give the student basic elements of neurology, regarding main neurological diseases which are object of inpatient and/or outpatient care; the second part will give the student issues regarding the organization of Neurologic Unit in a complex Hospital, with a special focus on the relationship among different Clinic Units, and the strategic directions (General Manager, Administrator, Medical Director); the third part will give the student basic elements to read a scientific paper and select proper material to edit a scientific report
Applied Medical Sciences of Preventive Medicine
To acquire knowledge on the risk factors of diseases and the levels and types of prevention.

To know the strategies and techniques to adopt to promote the public health and the health education at the individual and community level.

To implement the role of the health professional in the rehabilitation area as a promoter of the health and prevention within the multidisciplinary rehabilitative team.

Preventive medicine and the National Health System. Levels and methodologies of prevention.

Risk factors: definition, methods, and identification techniques. The role of healthcare professionals.

Prevention, chronicity, and disability. Rehabilitation and reintegration. Planning tools and preventive and rehabilitative assistance.

Clinical risk, adverse event, and "sentinel" event: definition, prevention, and management. Guidelines and appropriateness of care.

The health professional in the rehabilitation area in the promotion of health and secondary and tertiary prevention across different age groups and types of subject.
