Learning Objectives

Knowledge related to Latin civilization, scientific culture and literary culture.


Course Structure

Overall analysis of the Latin literature, with an examination of a specific literary field, through the reading, translation, and philological-stylistic commentary of selected prosaic and poetical texts of Classical period, with prosodic and metric analysis of the poetic language.



Detailed Course Content

Forms and functions of literature on ancient cities: urban planning, mythopoeia and erudite historicism.
