Learning Objectives

1. Knowledge and ability of knowledge: the main objective of the course is the student's learning of the basic linguistic elements for an intermediate level knowledge. The syntactic and morphological aspects of the English language will be studied, with particular regard to phonetics, lexical recognition and to the use of English in the economic field, in line with the objectives of the degree program.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding (apply knowledge and understanding): the student is able to apply the knowledge acquired in the practice of the English language and to converse fluently, with lexical precision and syntactic correctness, on various topics and specifics of the professional technical area of reference.
3. Making judgments: the linguistic competence is the basis for a practical use of the microlanguage in the future professional fields beyond the national borders towards a trans- and international perspective.
4. Communication skills (communication skills): these skills will be evaluated through tests and editions, aiming at international students, with a predominance of the economic sector.
5. Learning skills: the course aims to develop students' self-learning skills.



Detailed Course Content

I MODULE - English Grammar
Program description: Basic and contrast grammar, practical and oral exercises. Tutorials on comprehension skills and written re-elaboration and syntactic transformations.

II MODULE - Business Theory
Description of the program: Aiming at giving students abilities to understand the contents of Business English and the technical terminology, we will focus on the micro-language and specific technical material of the economic field, emphasizing contrasts and syntactical and lexical similarities through the use of textual and audio material, to improve reading, listening and speaking skills. In this context, particular attention will be paid to the following topics: Management, Marketing, Advertising, Production, Logistics (Incoterms), Products and brands (Labels), Banking, Bonds, Stocks and Shares (Investors and Investments), Company structure, Business cycle , Business organization, E-Commerce, Green Economy.

III MODULE (2 CFU) - Business Communication
Description of the program: This module aims at the written production, in order to put the student in the condition to be able to re-elaborate what has been learned. In particular, we will refer to different types of documents, such as orders, replies, complaints, CVs, reports, etc. Moreover, in order to consider the peculiarities of EAP, the different types of products of scientific literature will be taken into consideration.
