Learning Objectives

Understanding and Learning Ability
The course aims to provide students with adequate expertises to enhance their capabilities in critical thinking so as to better interpret and understand the fundamental notions of comparative public law. Into particular consideration will different forms of government and common European constitutional principles be taken. During the course material from different legal systems will be analyzed.
Application of gained knowledge
The acquisition of new concepts and institutions is aimed in enabling students to put what learnt into practise. Operating through a comparative method, students will be able to enhance their problem solving and critical thinking capabilities. The course would consist in frontal lessons, in which students are encouraged to discuss and debate on legal problems and cases connected to (italian and foreign) institutional current events.


Course Structure

Frontal teaching - During the lessons the student will be actively involved with the reading and the comment, in the Hall, of texts (normative and jurisprudential) functional to the understanding of the topics from time to time treated by the teacher.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.



Detailed Course Content

The method of public comparison. Forms of state and government, sources of law, organization of public powers, costitutional justice (in the legal systems of United Kingdom, United States of America, Switzerland, German Federal Republic, France and Spain).
