Learning Objectives

Knowledge and understanding
The European Intellectual Property Law gives the students a first knowledge and understanding in the field of the European Law of patents and trademarks.

Applying knowledge and understanding
The course aims at:
- providing a first knowledge and understanding in the field of European Law of Intellectual Property useful in occupational context;
- giving the ability to identify and solve concrete and abstract problems;
- giving the ability to communicate about understanding, skills and activities, with peers, supervisors and clients;
- providing the learning skills to undertake further studies with some autonomy.

Frontal lessons supported by slides

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.



Detailed Course Content

Patents: The economic background of the invention. The European Patent. The patentable invention. Requirements of patentability. Ownership of the patent. The patent application. Interpreting the claims. Infringement. Remedies. The transfer of the patent. Chemical patents. Biotechnological patents.
