Thematically, it consists of two modules: English Sociolinguistics and Translation. Language classes will also be part of the course.

MODULE 1 – English Sociolinguistics

The module will focus of the English language spread. Starting from some basic concepts in sociolinguistics, students will trace back the various steps which have led the English language to its current status. Diatopic varieties will be analysed together with the linguistic, cultural and political implications they bring about.

Students will be guided to apply the analytical tools acquired during the course.

MODULE 2 - TRANSLATION

The module has a twofold aim: on the one hand strengthening the translation strategies students acquired during their BA course through practice, on the other widening the students’ knowledge with reference to Translation Studies. Students will work on direct translation: English to Italian.

Language practice
