A. History and models for reading texts. (3 CFU)

From Gutenberg to the digital. Models of text hermeneutics. From close reading to distant reading, up to computational hermeneutics. Epistemological issues, and modeling and representation problems. Go through the text: concordances, indexes and frequency lists. Search and query functions.

B. Applications. (3 CFU)

1. Poetry and prose to the test of the lexicographical and concordantial method.
2. The concept of author and authorship in times of the internet. Death of the author, the electronic word, and combinatorial literature.
3. Author and reader on the web. Reading in public: literary community and transmediality. Information, criticism, the debate on literature.
4. Narration and storytelling. 'Short' writings and readings.
5. Education and digital technologies: ICT (Information and Communication Technologies in schools), flipped classroom, object learning.
