Course Structure

The first part of the course (3 credits) will cover the main moments of Greek and Roman art, linking them to the development of studies on the subject. The second part of the course will be dedicated to the study of the art of the Western Greeks.



Detailed Course Content

1. Archeological methods, literary sources, history of the discipline, historiography of greek and roman art.
2. Typologies and chronology of the greek and roman sculpture, relief and painting, with particular attention to the iconographic and stylistic reading of the ancient work of art.
3. Greek Art in the Western colonies, especially in Sicily.
