Learning Objectives

The course of MOLECULAR DIAGNOSIS IN REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE aims to improve the knowledge of the students on the diagnostic tests, current and futuristic, carried out through the main techniques of molecular biology, in various areas of clinical medicine, particularly in reproductive medicine.

Course Structure

The course includes lectures and laboratory exercises. In particular, the students will learn to use online databases to search for nucleotide sequences of mRNA and non-coding RNA and programs for their analysis. Moreover, they will learn the main techniques of RNA extraction (from cells and biological fluids) and the Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT_PCR) Real Time.

Detailed Course Content

Preimplantation and Prenatal Genetic Diagnosis test based on end point e Real Time PCR to identify gene mutation on monogenic disorders;

Preimplantation and Prenatal Genetic Screening test based on SNP profiles, CGH array and Next Generation Sequencing

Molecular Test on liquid biopsies

Exosome purification and analysis of their cargo
