Learning Objectives

The objective of the course is to provaide the students a adequate background knowledge about the structure and organization of vegetable orgamisms as necessary tools for the plants identification, as well as the location of autotrophic organisms in an ecosystemic context

Detailed Course Content

The plant cell (cell wall: structure and function; vacuoles: structure and function; plastids: structure and function; plasmodesmata). Plant tissues: differentiation and function of plant tissues. Plant organs: structure and function of the root, stem, leaf; structure and function of flowers, fruits, seed. Photosynthesis and transpiration. Reproduction. bryophytes. Tracheophyta: morphology, reproduction and biological cycles of Pteridophyta. Spermatophytes: Gymnosperms: general information on the vegetative apparatus, reproductive organs, reproduction and biological cycle; Angiosperms: general information on the vegetative apparatus, reproductive organs, reproduction and biological cycle.
