Detailed Course Content

The course aims to offer a cultural journey through which the student will acquire the necessary theoretical and methodological tools to "read" the institutional changes, social and economic conditions of the contemporary world with particular reference to technological development, a new organization job's and modern production systems. Will investigate the following themes: the birth and evolution of the European continent in late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; the Birth of new social classes: workers and middle-class in the new nation-states, between the Marxist tradition and the contemporary historiography; Capitalism between imperialism and colonialism; The national unification in Italy and Germany; The nationalization of the masses; Liberal Italy; The age of the crisis; Fascism and Nazism; The '"golden age" of the economy; Cold War and decolonization.
