Learning Objectives

Students must acquire the critic competences for an analytical and comparative approach of the literary currents and of realia.

Students must be able to create hypertext and cultural links among writers, literary and artistic genres of the modern and contemporary French and Francophone world.


Course Structure

The course is structured in two modules:

1 Module (4CFU)

The 19th century historical-cultural and artistic-literary movements are analyzed from a comparative perspective (texts and architectures)

2 Module (2CFU)

We analyze translations, on a synchronic and diachronic level, of modern and contemporary texts, with particular attention to the reformulation of the images described



Detailed Course Content

Presentation and analysis of different types of literary and artistic genres on diachronic and synchronic levels. Pick out the evident and hidden dynamics on the construction of the text through a variety of different methods (especially aesthetic and translating approaches).

Both the course activities and the syllabus will be in French language. They consider the different educational purposes of the post-graduate courses in Comparative Languages and Literatures and in Modern Philology
