Learning Objectives

Acquire an in-depth knowledge of some architectural contexts, particularly of medieval and modern times, in the framework for the architectural history in Europe; strengthen the critical tools and methods for the study of architectural production.



Detailed Course Content

The program offers an overview of Italian architectural production from the early Middle Ages to the beginning of the Gothic, with special reference to the Romanesque and its regional variations, and from the Renaissance to the Twentieth Century, through some emblematic cases. The program will primarily focus on the Lombard Romanesque style, with special emphasis on the study of the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio in Milan.
