Learning Objectives
The course of Linguistics and Communication aims to provide the students:
1) elements and methods of analysis necessary to grasp the basic principles of the complex functioning and change of their own language, both oral and written, i.e. in a perspective synchronic, diachronic and typological analysis;
2) the skills necessary to consciously use the latest tools of Italian lexicography, for effective use of the vocabulary of the language in its various occasions;
3) insights into the mechanisms for the formation of multiword expressions and idiomatic phrases.
Through lab work activities (hence the term "General Linguistics with Lab"), the student will be able to:
- acquire the necessary phonetic transcription skills (eg, for the consultation of any dictionary, Italian and foreign);
- understand and know to represent, according to certain theoretical data, the morphological structure of Italian words;
- understand the lexical nature of idiomatic expressions;
- understand the structure of the syntactic and textural constructions of Italian.
The program also takes into account the ministry guidelines for teaching in the state secondary school; since the National Curriculum attributes a significant number of credits to this course, students are strongly recommended to take it.
