ITALIAN LITERATURE A - L

Providing students with a knowledge of the main authors and works in Italian Literature (1200-1600) and a learning method to interpret poetry, prose and drama, so to enable students to have a direct approach to the study of literary phenomena.

1. Institutional and epistemological aspects of the discipline. Critical methodologies. Rhetoric and metrics (3 CFU).
2. Dante’s Comedy (3 CFU).
3. Literary history of the thirteenth and fourteenth century. Petrarca, Canzoniere. Boccaccio, Decameron (2 CFU).
4. Literary history of the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth century. Machiavelli, Il principe. Ariosto, Orlando furioso. Tasso, Gerusalemme liberata (4 CFU).
